Software 2000 Wins Queen's
Award For Export Achievement
High-flying UK software company achieves 80% annual growth and quadruples
export earnings over three year period.
OXFORD — April 21, 1998 — Oxford based software house
Software 2000 has been awarded a 1998 Queen's Award for Export Achievement
in recognition of achieving 80% year-on-year annual growth and quadrupling
export earnings over the last three years.
The company started its current business in 1989 and has grown organically
into a multi-million pound company with offices in Oxford and Monterey,
California. Now the world's largest third party developer of
inkjet and laser printer drivers for the Microsoft Windows environment,
manufacturers such as Alps, Canon, Epson, Fuji Xerox, Hewlett-Packard,
Lexmark, OCÉ, Olivetti, Ricoh, Samsung, Sharp, Tally, Toshiba
and Xerox use the company's print driver technologies on a
world-wide basis. In 1994 the company won a Prince of Wales Award
for Technological Achievement and was recently named "Oxfordshire
Business of the Year 1997".
Technical Director Tony Harris commented, "As the ‘back
room boys' of the printer industry we are proud to receive
this award which recognizes the commitment of our employees and our
technology leadership. Although many users of color inkjet printers
from manufacturers such as Epson, Lexmark and Olivetti are probably
unaware of who we are, we recently calculated that one of our printer
drivers ships every three seconds of the day, 365 days a year, and
the number is increasing all the time".
Note to Editors: Her Majesty's representative will present
the award at a special ceremony to be arranged soon. Details will
be sent to editors nearer the time.
