Software 2000 Announces
PrintMagic™ Licensing Agreement with
HP
OXFORD — July 28, 1997 — Leading graphics systems
house, Software 2000 today announced that it was chosen by Hewlett-Packard
Company to develop some of HP's
device drivers for some of its DeskJet printers.
Software 2000 worked very closely with HP's Vancouver Division
to develop the device drivers which are based on Software 2000's
PrintMagic 3.1 technology.
"HP is known for its' quality consciousness," said
Nigel Hearne, president of Software 2000's U.S. operation. "HP
required device driver technology that would provide their customers
with a very high quality, high performance, color printing solution.
A key factor in their decision was the excellent compatibility we
can offer for a very broad range of Windows applications."
PrintMagic's host-based rendering capability will render images
at any bit depth up to 32-bits per pixel very quickly. The modular
architecture allows for the integration of third-party and proprietary
color matching, diffusion, and dithering schemes. PrintMagic hooks
seamlessly into the Windows Printing Subsystem, offering extremely
quick return to application response times, and the PrintMagic despooler
provides almost zero performance-impact background printing. Software
2000's proprietary color calibration system enabled HP and
Software 2000 engineers to achieve stunning color output quality
in a very short timeframe.
