Software 2000 Announces New PrintMagic Licensing Agreement with
HP/APOLLO
OXFORD — January 15, 1999 — Leading graphics systems
house, Software 2000 today announced that it was chosen by Hewlett-Packard
Company to develop the Windows device drivers for its new range of
APOLLO brand low-end color printers.
Software 2000 worked very closely with HP's APOLLO Consumer Products
(ACP) subsidiary to develop the device drivers which are based on
Software 2000's PrintMagic technology.
"PrintMagic is renowned for its ability to deliver a very high
quality, high performance, color printing solution in a non-intimidating,
user friendly package," said Nigel Hearne, president of Software
2000's U.S. operation. "APOLLO required a device driver technology
that met their technical needs but at the same time was simple and
easy to use for their consumer customers."
ACP's Director of Product Development Greg Slansky said "Software
2000's PrintMagic technology was readily extended to support the
APOLLO P-1200. The ease with which this was accomplished contributed
in great measure to ACP achieving aggressive schedule goals for its
first product."
PrintMagic hooks seamlessly into the Windows Printing Subsystem,
offering extremely quick return to application response times, and
the PrintMagic despooler provides almost zero performance-impact
background printing. Software 2000's proprietary color calibration
system enabled APOLLO and Software 2000 engineers to achieve stunning
color output quality in a very short timeframe.
