Software 2000 brings Short-Run color printing to the desktop
OXFORD — August 31, 1999 — Powerful new Driver
Technologies from Software 2000 make it easy for color printer manufacturers
to extend their users capabilities. New printer Device Drivers developed
using Software 2000's PCL 5c developer kit, or the PCL XL and Postscript
3 developer kits may use industry-leading short run print and finishing
capabilities.
Features include scaled booklet, where a document is scaled into
the booklet when it is printed direct from the application.
In addition a "real" booklet function is supported where
no scaling occurs. This provides users accurate layout control of
their book
Printer OEMs with stapling or binding technology incorporated in
their devices can even automate the booklet production.
Other new features include "Camera Ready Copy" where
individual pages can be printed complete with crop-marks, and scale
and place, where the scaled document can be placed exactly where
the user requires on the output media.
Color printer users can also produce poster prints of documents,
allowing users to proof and produce large posters from their standard
desktop applications. There is no loss of quality in the scaling-up
of documents into poster format.
All OEMs supporting Microsoft Windows using Software 2000 Component
Driver Architecture (CDA) benefit from this high-functionality color
support in their drivers. OEMs supplying solutions developed using
Software 2000 Postscript 3 & level 2, PCL 5c, and PCL XL Color
technologies immediately benefit.
Software 2000's support extends across the range of Microsoft Windows
NT 4.0 / 2000 and Windows 3.1 / 95 / 98 Operating Systems.
