Software 2000 Furthers Wide-Format Line-up
Hewlett-Packard RTL-GL/2 support included in Component Driver Architecture
(CDA) products
OXFORD — June 8, 2001 — Software 2000 announced today
that it has extended its innovative range of printer driver developer
(CDA) toolkits to support RTL-GL/2, the industry standard language.
The new CDA toolkits enable OEMs to support industry standard wide-format
models compatible with Hewlett-Packard DesignJet 1xxx, 2xxx, 3xxx
and 7xx ranges. This includes models such as the DesignJet 1055 wide-format
device.
Now printer OEMs can quickly implement support for RTL-GL/2 devices
without having to create custom drivers from the ground up. OEMs
who use CDA have access to all the benefits of an industry-proven
core driver technology, which provides enhanced functionality without
compromising the performance of the device.
OEMs can easily create "branded" drivers for Windows
Me, 2000 and XP as well as legacy versions of Windows. CDA drivers
allow OEMs to deliver advanced job finishing features to their customers.
The RTL-GL/2 CDA toolkits have been further enhanced to support features
especially relevant to wide-format customer such as custom scaling,
repeat & step printing, custom scaling and larger-than-media
posters.
Using the "Print Direct" driver extension users can
also take advantage of automatic printing with "drag-and-drop" printing
of most popular file formats (TIFF, PDF etc). CDA toolkits generate
fully Microsoft compliant drivers thereby allowing OEMs to submit
their drivers for Microsoft Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL)
approval on logo operating systems such as Windows Me, 2000 and Window
XP. CDA benefits OEMs by easing their development of custom printer
drivers. This reduces their development and support costs while accelerating
their time-to-market.
