Software 2000 offer OEMs the full driver eXPerience

OXFORD — October 30, 2001— Software 2000, the world's leading independent printer driver technology provider, today announced that all of its Driver Development Toolkits support Windows XP and are enabled to produce fully compliant Windows XP drivers. The company's OEM customers can automatically build Windows 2000 and Windows XP (32-bit) drivers alongside Windows NT 4.0 drivers using the same toolkit.

Full Windows Hardware Quality Labs Support

In addition, the company confirmed that it develops its toolkits to fully support the hardware vendors who use them in obtaining Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL) certification and has been successfully doing so since the inception of the programme by Microsoft. All the toolkits have the required functionality to develop XP (32-bit) drivers meeting the WHQL requirements. Software 2000 sees WHQL certification as a key competitive benefit and will continue to support its OEM customers in obtaining WHQL certification for all of their Windows drivers.

"We are very pleased that the testing that we have been carrying out over the past year, as part of the Windows XP advanced Beta programme, has allowed us to develop full compatibility for our products," said Mr. Tony Harris, Chief Technology Officer. "We have tested all of our driver development toolkit families and the drivers created by them extensively against multiple language and operating variants of Windows XP and they have worked perfectly," he added.

"We always strive to give our OEMs the opportunity to be first to their markets" , said Peter Lismer, CEO. He continued, "As part of our long term commitment to our customers it was very important for us to have XP compliant driver toolkits for them when XP launched. This also meant providing them with toolkits that supported Windows Hardware Quality Labs certification in order to update drivers correctly when users upgrade to XP."
