Software 2000 announces
support for Adobe's latest version
of PostScript 3
OXFORD — September 3, 2003 — Software 2000 has today
announced support for the very latest version of Adobe's PostScript
3 interpreters. Adobe has recently announced availability of their
new PostScript 3 version 3016 interpreter. Adobe licensees using
the new PostScript version in combination with Software 2000's
PostScript Component Driver Architecture (CDA)-based drivers can
print PDF documents directly with full support for the new Adobe
PDF JDF ticketing facility.
In addition to this, Software 2000 has announced a new range of
toolkits to be available later this year that will provide additional
support for MetaDocs™ job ticketing from within CDA drivers.
MetaDocs makes the ticketing of jobs using CIP4's JDF, Printer
Working Group Semantic Model or other XML schemas straightforward.
MetaDocs even allows non-Adobe-based software to benefit from industry-standard
job ticketing which can be defined within the print driver as part
of the document workflow.
Software 2000 OEMs can optionally build in a "PrintDirect" driver
component into their CDA-based printer drivers to allow full support
of the new Adobe PDF capabilities. Users can now easily print their
job complete with ticketing information. Adobe JDF support for color
matching and in-RIP trapping is passed directly through to the PostScript
3 interpreter residing in the device.
CDA driver development toolkits are designed to supply the best
added-value printer driver solutions for both Adobe and non-Adobe
PostScript 3 interpreters.
