Epson License Software 2000 Driver Technologies
Software 2000's Component
Driver Architecture (CDA) replaces Epson's previous PCL XL driver
technologies for lasers
OXFORD — September 15, 2003 — Software 2000 announces
a licensing agreement with Seiko Epson Corporation of Japan for Epson
to utilize Component Driver Architecture (CDA)-based drivers for
their latest range of laser printers. Epson selected Software 2000
as their technology partner because CDA provides the highest possible
printer driver reliability and performance for Microsoft Windows
2003, XP, 2000, NT 4.0, Me and 98/95. The Software 2000 drivers replace
Epson's previous PCL XL technology provider.
The first results of the agreement are shipping today. Epson products
that use the first Epson CDA drivers include the Epson EPL-N2050,
EPL-N2050+, EPL-N2750, EPL-5800, EPL-5900 and EPL-6100 laser printers.
These models offer high performance (for example, the EPL-N2750 offers
27 pages-per-minute (ppm) at 1200 dpi) and now benefit from the support
of high performance PCL XL (HP PCL 6) CDA-based drivers. The drivers
include enhanced features such as booklet printing, poster printing,
scaling, watermarks and N-up.
Software 2000 CDA drivers are industry recognized to support the
highest levels of performance and reliability for this advanced printer
language based on the HP standard.
Peter Lismer commented "We are very
pleased that Epson has seen the benefits of using CDA for optimal
support of their printer
range. Software 2000 continues to deliver industry leading performance,
function and reliability in its driver technologies." Peter
Lismer is Chief Executive Officer, Software 2000.
Masahisa Akasaka of Epson stated "We're pleased to have entered
into agreement with Software 2000 Ltd, with whom we have had a long
history of partnership on driver technologies. Epson printers are
designed to provide users with exceptional performance and value
and Software 2000's driver technology meets our customer's needs."
In addition to providing new CDA-based Hewlett-Packard PCL XL-compatible
drivers Epson will continue to provide its own proprietary ESC/Page
printer drivers with its range of laser devices.
