Software Imaging Demonstrates Leadership in XPS at Graph Expo® 2007

XPS driver software for consumer, office and production printers on show for the first time in XPSLand

Oxford, United Kingdom – September 5, 2007 – Software Imaging, a leading vendor of products supporting the new Microsoft XPS document format, will be taking part in the XPSLand showcase at Graph Expo 2007, from September 9-12 2007, at McCormick Place South in Chicago, IL.

For the first time, Software Imaging will demonstrate its full XPS product portfolio: the new PrintMagicXPS™ and XPS enhanced releases of both the CDA™ and Sorcerer™ Driver Development Kits (DDKs). All three products take advantage of Software Imaging’s extensive experience in XPS, a format that they have been actively working on with Microsoft for over 3 years. Each has been tailored to support all types of printers, from desktop to large format and production machines.

PrintMagicXPS, Software Imaging’s leading XPS technology product, provides facilities to read and write XPS documents along with a fully featured XPS raster image processor (RIP). It combines high quality and high performance when processing and rendering XPS Documents. PrintMagicXPS offers comprehensive facilities to simplify the creation of both XPS workflow applications and Microsoft XPSDrv filter drivers. The interfaces supplied are flexible enough to allow print filters to be easily developed that can harness the benefits of both the Microsoft XPS document and the stream filter interfaces, giving the OEM maximum control over processing XPS documents in their own custom filter pipelines. PrintMagicXPS’s extensible plug-in architecture allows an OEM to tailor the rendering process to their specific requirements.

The latest releases of Software Imaging’s CDA and Sorcerer DDKs for PDL-based and raster-based devices respectively, extend the broad-base of operating systems and platforms supported to include the new print system built into Microsoft’s Windows Vista. CDA and Sorcerer now make the creation of Windows Vista Premium signed drivers simple, fast, and cost-effective. Vista support has also been added for legacy Windows XP-style drivers facilitating the achievement of Vista Basic certification. This allows OEMs to simply rebuild their existing driver source for instant Microsoft Vista XPSDrv support, and greatly reduces the investment that printer manufacturers have to make to achieve the appropriate level of Vista signing.

“Our products allow OEMs to make the most of host-side advantages like multi-core processing, and to more easily make changes to drivers post-deployment. We’re proud to be exhibiting at this leading industry showcase at a time when demand for XPS printing is clearly starting to grow.”

"Our OEM customers have confirmed that our solutions represent the truest implementation of the XPS specification and they are moving to take advantage of the compelling benefits offered by host-based solutions," explained Kevin Jampole, Vice President Sales & Marketing for Software Imaging. "Our products allow OEMs to make the most of host-side advantages like multi-core processing, and to more easily make changes to drivers post-deployment. We’re proud to be exhibiting at this leading industry showcase at a time when demand for XPS printing is clearly starting to grow."
