PrintSec™
True End-to-End Secure Printing
In today's global climate the importance of security
has never been greater. PrintSec provides a completely protected
desktop printing system, allowing enterprise users to print
with absolute confidence in uncompromised security.
The Growing Importance of Data Security
By mid 2005, more than 50 million Americans
had their personal information exposed through compromised data.
This has led to legislation protecting personal and financial
data in North America, while similar issues have led to the
passing of laws in Europe and Japan.
In response, many corporations are enforcing
strict access control, encryption and data loss policies. These
organizations understand that the cost of implementing tighter
controls is minor compared to the damage caused by media and
legal exposure following a major security breach.
Despite these efforts, there still remains
a glaring gap in today's data security implementations, one
that only PrintSec is designed to close.
Is Secure Printing Secure?
Printer manufacturers have sought to create solutions that address print-related security issues, many of which involve inputting a PIN or
using a swipe card to obtain a sensitive print out. However
this process fails to secure the print job on its journey from
client to printer.
Typically, print jobs are sent openly over
networks in common Page Description Languages (PDLs
- PCL5, PostScript, etc.).
In these situations, no matter how secure the device is,
or the degree of encryption in the controller or hard drive,
the job has traveled across the network in a standard, interceptable,
and readable format without protection.
Fortunately, Software Imaging has overcome
this problem with the introduction of PrintSec, a patent-pending
technology that gives printer manufacturers the ability to offer
uncompromised end-to-end secure printing across enterprise networks.
