Overcoming the Challenge of Multi-site
Rollouts
One of the major challenges for printer manufacturers is enabling easy delivery of printer drivers for different configurations of printers. Printer suppliers include device drivers that typically support a digital copier or network printer's base model - but they do not account for the exact hardware configuration a customer may want to lease or purchase. Windows operating systems offer the ability to configure devices on servers and allow roll-out to on-line clients. However for multi-site roll-out and diverse geographical roll-out this creates a large administration task for limited setup of the device by network administrators and the manufacturer's sales channel.
Seamless End-user Installation
ShipRight addresses this challenge head-on with a unique driver solution that can be simply integrated into a digital copier's printer drivers. It allows post driver build alteration of device driver settings so an end-user's experience of installing a device driver can be totally seamless. The sales channel can pre-configure the driver to exactly match the customer's options. An example could be that a customer is purchasing 170 units of a digital copier with one particular choice of large media bins, sorter, folder and stapler. The integrator can simply use ShipRight to setup the hardware and default print mode to correctly match the customer's requirement, and supply the driver to the end-user.
Works with All Modes of Driver Installation
ShipRight works with all modes of driver installation, whether using Software Imaging's Setup program installation for integrated language installations, or a standard Add-Printer wizard WHQL-approved installation. In addition it does not affect the WHQL nature of the driver as it does not alter the driver binaries installed. There are no non-signed driver warning messages upon installation.
Delivering Effective Management Control
Printer suppliers can also supply corporate
IT departments with ShipRight as a management tool. IT departments
can then do their own management and roll-out of new devices
and device options to remote sites. In addition it can be used
to preconfigure point-and-print drivers with pre-set access to
the ManageRight permissions store. This allows driver features
such as use of color to be easily managed by the IT manager on
a per-user basis.
