Sorcerer Details
Leading Halftoning – Fast Hi-Fidelity
Results
Sorcerer provides very fast high
quality error diffusion halftoning and delivers the best quality
output more efficiently than alternate solutions. In addition,
for high resolution devices Software Imaging’s Stochastic
Screening (SISS)
technology can provide even faster high quality halftoning
(unlike other stochastic technologies). For laser printers,
Sorcerer's ordered screen generator provides maximum quality
for the user.
OEMs can
also implement halftoning on-device as these technologies are
available for embedded applications in the ColorCore product.

Team Design – Fast Results
Using Sorcerer, a number of OEM developers
may work simultaneously on a specific printer driver definition,
each developer locking sections of the design for their own
exclusive use. One developer may choose to enable a range of
Job Finishing functions provided within the Sorcerer core [see
Job Finishing] whilst another may be working on a Status
Monitor that provides bi-directional communications between
the host system and the device. With each developer having
instant access to the other members work, on a read only basis,
a parallel development process is maintained ensuring the fastest
possible release to market of device drivers.
Print Direct – Simplifying The Print
Process
Sorcerer drivers may also include Print
Direct, a utility designed to simplify the process of printing
files by an end-user without the need to open an application.
Through a combination of the graphical dialog editor within
Sorcerer and standard HTML support
files, Print Direct allows an OEM definable
icon to be placed upon the end-user's desktop. This allows
the user to simply 'drag' files onto the icon whenever printing
is required. [see Print
Direct]
Advanced AutoEZ-Cal Technology
A key component within the color management
system of Sorcerer is the advanced technology of AutoEZ-Cal
(AEC), an integrated ICC compatible
utility that allows calibrations and characterizations to be
performed incredibly quickly. AEC is
a wizard driven process that generates color tables subsequently
used within the generated Sorcerer printer drivers. Color Matching
Method (CMM)
engines from companies such as Agfa, GretagMacbeth, Heidelberg
and Monaco may be used for OEM specific requirements. Support
for digital image formats, Exif/PIM,
is available within Sorcerer.
Flexible Setup
Also included within Sorcerer is a Printer
Driver Installation Utility (Setup). An OEM may
require the installation of drivers to be transparent, or may
wish to create a Microsoft WHQL driver
that has been digitally signed. Custom setup programs are also
supported. Setup is designed to provide total flexibility and
is tested against, and complies with, current Microsoft WHQL requirements.
